John Rahm delivered a 10/1 each-way place for us at The Open Championship, so essentially a 2/1 win on the place market which covered our stakes for the week. Rahm put himself in the mix, but Brian Harmen was too good.
Wyndham Championship (3rd to 6th August)
Another competitive field this week on the PGA Tour as the Wyndham Championship takes centre stage. None of the big guns will be in action this week, so 18/1 the field makes it a very interesting betting heat. With the play-offs coming up, some will need to put in a big performance, but the consistent drivers and tee to green players will once again be in the mix here.
Last year’s winner Tom Kim was super dominant and indeed the South Koreans dominated the leaderboard in general with Sung-Jae Im finishing in 2nd place, tied with John Hue. Like last week’s PGA tour event, this event usually has low scores and, across the four rounds, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a winning score around -20.
Lee Hodges was the big priced winner last week and, with such a good array of golfers lining up this week, it may be someone lower down the top 100 to have four big rounds of golf at a big price to land themselves a place in the FedEx play-offs.
J T Poston won here in 2019 and is in good form on tour. Finishing tied 2nd last week at 3M Open was an excellent performance and he is in with a shout of winning this event. The 35/1 with BetWay playing 7 places is one of our fancies.
Sung Jae Im heads the betting with Hideki Matsuyama and both of these players were in action last week, but the excellent scoring by others meant a finish outside the top 10.
Sam Burns and Russell Henley are next in the betting and will be hoping to be in the mix come the final round on Sunday, however a lack of consistency may well harm their chances.
Si Woo Kim is a player I like. He is very consistent on the US PGA Tour, his accuracy is good and when on song and his putting is excellent. Connecting all this across four rounds of golf is definitely achievable this week.
Shane Lowry heads over for this event and could well be in the shake up on Sunday. He is playing some excellent golf and across rounds two and three is when he likes to make his move, to give himself a chance of topping the leaderboard when it matters most.

J T Poston is playing excellent golf and with the play-offs on the horizon this is great chance to ensure he is in the mix. If last week doesn’t take it out of him after competing all the way to the end, then Poston can once again be in the shake up for a place or a win on Sunday.
Si Woo Kim at 25/1 with SkyBet (1/5 the odds, 8 places) – 0.5pt each-way
Finishing runner up in 2021, Si Woo Kim can make it back to back South Koren victories at this course. Kim is playing good golf and, if he shows real consistency like we know he can, then he is very capable of being in the mix on Sunday.
